Hello, we’re back to our regular scheduled programming, which means a full newsletter this week! Thanks for being patient with me as I completed some major life transitions (moving, etc). Let’s dive into what I’m talking about this week:
🗞️ News You Missed (that actually matters)
♟️Reality Check: Is AI underdelivering on its promises?
🤯 This feature in ChatGPT projects will change your life
🧩 Project Playground - Free PDF Guide: How to Makeover Your Personal Brand w/AI
🗞️ News You Missed (that actually matters)
Summary: Qualcomm is integrating Adobe’s GenStudio (with Adobe Express, Firefly, Workfront etc.) to make its content pipeline more efficient and personalized. (The Economic Times)
Why it matters: It’s a strong example of a large B2B brand using AI to reduce friction in marketing ops, showing what’s possible (and expected) in smart content workflows.
Summary: A coalition of high‑profile CEOs is spearheading a global campaign to accelerate AI adoption across companies and governments. (Axios)
Why it matters: It signals top‑level alignment and legitimacy for AI as a strategic business tool, which helps reduce resistance and opens doors internally when you pitch AI projects.
Summary: A new report from Bain argues that generative and agentic AI can free up significant selling time and improve conversion rates, but sales is still under‑leveraged compared to other domains. (Bain)
Why it matters: It highlights a key opportunity area—if you can embed AI into sales/offer generation, you may unlock outsized gains and differentiate beyond content or demand generation.
♟️Reality Check: Is AI Underdelivering?
“THERE’S A BIG GAP BETWEEN WHAT’S BEING TALKED ABOUT AND WHAT’S ACTUALLY BEING DONE.”
That’s what Dave Gerhardt (Exit Five) said in a recent webinar: Marketing in the Age of AI: CMOs Separating the Hype from What’s Real.
Finally, some real talk. The hype machine is loud, and it’s easy to get swept up by the fear of missing out.
What landed for me was how grounded the CMOs were. Here are the takeaways I think will actually help:
AI isn’t a quick fix. Most teams skipped the strategy and jumped to the end state. Start with 1–2 clear use cases, owners, and success metrics.
Human nuance still matters. There are nuances to human communication that only humans can understand. Customized customer outreach has a long way to go for this reason.
Over-automation raises demand for humanity. The more bots we ship, the more customers crave real conversation, events, and community.
We’re all learning. No one’s the expert. Trade impostor syndrome for a curiosity-first mindset and ship small experiments weekly.
AI progress = small, repeatable wins. Ship one workflow, measure, and share the lesson. Do that weekly, and the gap between talk and doing closes fast.
🤯 This Hidden Feature in ChatGPT Projects Will Change Your Life
The pain (you’ve seen it)
You run interviews on Brand A, then ask for insights on Brand B—and the summary sneaks in Brand A’s language or personas. That’s open, cross-chat memory muddying your research outputs.
The fix
Create a Project and switch memory to Project-only so ChatGPT pulls context only from chats/files inside that project—no bleed from the rest of your history.
3-minute setup
New Project (e.g., “Brand B—Qual & Quant”).
Upload initial sources of information (screeners, transcripts, surveys, ICPs).
Set Memory → Project-only (requires Memory enabled in Settings → Personalization). (OpenAI Help Center)
Why this matters for research
No cross-contamination: Findings stay brand-specific; nothing leaks in or out.
Continuity without re-briefing: The project reuses its own prior chats/files for better synthesis.
Granular control: Memory can be viewed/cleared; settings live under Personalization. (OpenAI)
Real use cases to steal
Interview hub (Brand B): Store guides, anonymized notes, and tag summaries; synthesize themes without Brand A creeping in—thanks to Project-only memory.
Competitive set by project: One project per competitor; compare outputs side-by-side without language bleed.
Quant cross-tabs workspace: Upload survey exports + codebook; iteratively refine cuts knowing prior prompts stay scoped to this project. (OpenAI Help Center)
🧩 Project Playground — Free PDF Guide: How to Makeover Your Personal Brand w/AI
It’s finally here! I’ve taken everything we’ve done over the last month or so and created a polished PDF for our first project in the Project Playground series: Personal Brand Makeover w/AI.
Download it for free (subscribers only) here. Please give it a rating if you have the chance!
And yes, I did use AI to create that PDF, specifically Gamma. Definetly a tool worth checking out if you make a lot of PowerPoints or PDFs.
I hope you have a great rest of your week, and I’ll see you around next week :)
As always, stay curious and have fun!
Best,
Skyler Neal
